Diverse pathogenicity of equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) isolates in CBA mouse model.
The pathogenicity of equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) isolates of Japan were evaluated by using the CBA mouse model. CBA mice were inoculated with eight Japanese EHV-1 strains (89c1, 90c16, 90c18, 97c11, 98c12, 00c19, 01c1 and HH-1) and one British strain (Ab4p). 89c1 caused slight body weight loss and nervous signs in mice at 8 days post infection (dpi). Severe weight loss and nervous signs were o...
متن کاملExpression of the full-length form of gp2 of equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) completely restores respiratory virulence to the attenuated EHV-1 strain KyA in CBA mice.
Wild-type equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) strains express a large (250-kDa) glycoprotein, gp2, that is encoded by EUs4 (gene 71) located within the unique short region of the genome. DNA sequence analysis revealed that EUs4 of the pathogenic EHV-1 strain RacL11 is an open reading frame of 2,376 bp that encodes a protein of 791 amino acids. The attenuated EHV-1 vaccine strain KyA harbors an in-fram...
متن کاملEquine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1): characterisation of a viral strain isolated from equine plasma in Argentina
Strain "LP-3" of equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1), isolated from plasma of horses with clinical signs of rhinopneumonitis, was characterised by cultural, physicochemical, electron microscopic, serological and immunohistochemical studies. This was the first isolation from Argentine horses with respiratory disease. Another strain, SP-1, was isolated in the same laboratory from an aborted fetus in 1980.
متن کاملPolymorphism of open reading frame 71 of equine herpesvirus-4 (EHV-4) and EHV-1.
Open reading frame (ORF) 71 genes of both equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) and EHV-4 encode a unique glycoprotein, which has been described to vary in molecular mass from 200 to 450 kDa. Using PCR and nucleotide sequence analysis, it was shown that the ORF 71 genes of EHV-1 and EHV-4 are polymorphic due to a variable number of reiterated sequences in two regions, designated regions A and B. Region ...
متن کاملEquine herpes virus type 1 (EHV-1) and 4 (EHV-4) infections in horses and donkeys in northeastern Turkey
The herpesviruses infections in equides are caused by five different serotypes of viruses, belonging to family Herpesviridae. The goal of this study was to conduct a seroepidemiological investigation of equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) and type 4 (EHV-4) in horses and donkeys raised in two provinces and their villages in northeastern Turkey. A total of 666 samples from 423 horses and 243 donke...
